Management Committee

As you are well aware, the last couple of years has had a big impact on peoples ability to play, organise activity and generally try to stay afloat. Mark Lawrence, Chair, has done a great job keeping things moving with excellent but limited support. To ensure that we have an operating Management Committee in the run up to the AGM, he has enlisted the help of Jim Mann as President and Dave Constantine as Secretary to work alongside himself and Keith Banham as Treasurer.

Jim Mann, President

Jim has been in Badminton 🏸 all his life, as player, coach and administrator. Until recently he was a Senior Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Badminton England. Prior to that, he founded the Milton Keynes and District Badminton Association, was County Captain for Bucks and Chair of Bucks CBA for a number of years.

Mark Lawrence, Chairman

Mark has been involved with badminton in Bucks for over 50 years as player, coach, stringer and volunteer. He was first a part of the Bucks CBA committee in the early 1980s and over the years has acted as Coaching Secretary, Tournament Secretary, Match Secretary, County Captain and is the current Chair.

Mark works at (but not for) Wycombe Badminton Centre where he set up and runs the Battledore Junior Badminton Club which is still going strong.

Mark was born and bred in Buckinghamshire and is proud to have represented and to serve the county of his birth.

Mark can be contacted at chairman@badmintonbucks.co.uk

Dave Constantine, Secretary

Dave has been an ‘on-and-off’ player, coach and volunteer from the day he was big enough to pick-up a racquet.  As a player, he won his first senior tournament at 13, played for the Yorkshire County 1st Team before getting on his bike and moving to High Wycombe. He then spent a good 10 years playing in the Bucks County 1st Team and winning more tournaments than he really deserved! As volunteer he has been team captain and club captain / chair at both ends of the country.

Dave can be contacted at secretary@badmintonbucks.co.uk

Constitution

In preparing for the AGM we have reviewed the Buckinghamshire County Badminton Association Constitution.  It clearly needed to be brought up to date so a revised version with suggested changes will be circulated with the other papers for the AGM.

Any change to the constitution obviously needs appropriate review and challenge.  The revised version will be tabled at the AGM with a view to approving it or, agreeing an appropriate consultation period.

Communication

Hopefully you will have noticed that we are trying to improve how we communicate to all Bucks CBA stakeholders.  We now send out emails to approx. 120 club contacts and coaches, the website is up to date, and regular news items are posted to the website (www.badmintonbucks.co.uk/news ), facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BucksBadminton ) and twitter (https://twitter.com/BadmintonBucks ).

If you could like or follow these accounts and recommend them to anyone else who may be interested, it will help make sure everything Badminton in Bucks gets to the right people. Equally, if you need anything publicised, please get in contact at secretary@badmintonbucks.co.uk
