BCBA Tier4 – Two Great Weekends of Badminton

Posted on: June 6th, 2023

Bucks CBA hosted their first circuit tournament since 2015 with a Tier 4 event at Wycombe Badminton Centre over the half-term break. Tier 4 events are aimed at good club to lower level county players and our event attracted over 100 entries across the 5 disciplines.

Bank Holiday Monday saw the mens and ladies singles. The latter was won by Susan Godfree from Hampshire, whilst in the former, local talent Tom Joy emerged victorious beating Worcester’s Will Stoner in a three set final.

The following weekend it was the turn of the doubles events. On Saturday it was the mens and ladies and on Sunday the mixed.

The ladies doubles was won by a strong Middlesex pairing of Loice Kivisi and Aimen Tahir

The two finalists from the mens singles, Tom Joy and Will Stoner, teamed up to win the mens doubles.

On Sunday the mixed doubles was won by the Surrey pair of Marcus and Cherry Ip.

Overall the tournament was a great success and a lot of positive feedback was received from those who took part. The only disappointment was that there were not more local players taking part, but it is an event that we will look to repeat next year, so hopefully we can encourage a few more Bucks players to join in.
