The Affinity 24-hour Badminton Marathon was a resounding success! With their biggest footfall ever, they raised £1000 for the Booker Park Sensory Garden.
England top 10 player Zack Bobrowski happened to drop in and was a massive hit! He played a never-ending queue of players who wanted to pitch their skills against him and he finished, unbeaten, with a big smile on his face!
The day was full of inspiration and incredible support. Everyone was amazing with people helping out from across the badminton community. Phoenix Badminton Club kindly donated £50, members of Gadebridge badminton club came and supported and a member from Bedgrove club popped in too. Two cars of players from Slough Royal Racketeers arrived at Midnight and did a massive stint during the wee small hours that everyone was so grateful for (especially in Ramadan) and the Gadebridge players returned for a second go at 5am that was so, so needed!
Its never to late to give, if you want to donate, please contact sue@inspiringmind.co.uk
Thank you to everyone that took part and donated but especially to Sue, Kristen and Team from the Affinity Badminton Club for being the true inspirations you are!
If this sounded like fun, get your diaries out and jot down the next couple of Affinity events:
On 15th October 2022 Affinity are celebrating the club’s 10th anniversary with an open tournament for social and league players, junior and adult, at the National Badminton Centre.
And if that isn’t enough, keep an eye out for the next marathon, scheduled for October 2023!
